The 70s were defined by their style, something that, even though we don’t follow those trends anymore (at least, not most of us), they remain stunningly stylish. Part of that style is that it was seemingly effortless, and it might have been so; after all, it was the current trends for the people of the time.

What we’ve gathered here today are just a few photos of how life was like in the decade of 1970. We may not look like that anymore, and that’s a shame, since at times it feels like we never looked better.

Two Piece Outfit

This kid sure looks stylish in his two piece blue suit, even though he’s going to grow out of those clothes in like 35 seconds.

Sequoia Tree

As you might know, some trees are just massive, feeling more like buildings than actual plants. The girl, in that sense, serves more as a way to have a sense of scale.

Absolute 70s

These kids with their teacher might have had some problems getting in position for the yearbook photo, but I bet they today feel like it was well worth it.

Pants Apron

Not every fashion choice should be celebrated, be it from the 70s or not. In this case, while the idea was more practical than visual, aprons for your pants is just a no-go.

Orange Style

One thing we can’t deny about the 70s, is that bright colors were all the rage. It might have been the case in earlier decades, but that’s not what the black & white pictures of the time lead us to believe.

St. David’s Day

If you’re puzzled about the leeks on the men’s pockets or the Welsh hats on the ladies, well, it’s because you’re not into how celebrations for St. David’s Day can get to.

Ski Suit

It’s generally a bad idea to wear a fully white ski suit, since you want people to be able to see you. In that sense, this ski suit pattern would certainly make people notice you.

70s Hair

That’s one joyful expression on these gentlemen’s faces, clearly having a good time together. And how can you not with such magnificent hair on your head.

Yellow Prom

We don’t know if this prom was color coded, but we do know that these two (then) kids certainly looked good on their yellow outfits.

France

When you look at this, this is an image that is certainly fashionable, but there’s something else. Once you know this is from France, you can tell that that’s where their extra fashion points are coming from.

Chest Hair

Part of being an example of absolute manhood was showing your prominent chest hair, if any. Nowadays, men seem to be more comfortable shaving nearly every part of their body, leaving chest hair as a fashion statement of the 70s.

Hairdoo

This is an extreme case of 70s fashion, taken to an extreme you don’t often want to get to. That hair has more layers than most onions, or even ogres.

Beer Time

Back in the day, we used to spend more time in the sun. This is a friendly reminder that you can still do that today, since the sun still shines brightly in the sky.

Bike Surfer

Kids got into all kinds of trouble in the 70s, and honestly, they still do. Give a kid anything other than a screen and they’ll have all kinds of fun, even if it can end up being the dangerous kind.

Maids of Honor

Of course maids of honor need to dress similarly, and as long as they don’t wear white, it’s all the same. Although with such patterns, they might end up upstageing the bride without noticing.
