TV sets are expensive, so once a production builds a perfectly good living room, school hallway, spaceship, or entire town, Hollywood is not always eager to throw it away. A fresh coat of paint and some new furniture can apparently do wonders. That is how familiar sitcom homes have turned into crime scenes, cheerful small towns have become suspicious ones, and one very recognizable high school somehow kept enrolling new TV teenagers for years.
